CSA* CUT FLOWER SHARE / SUBSCRIPTION INFORMATION

What is a CSA*:

Community Supported Agriculture - A flower CSA share is a subscription that brings the farmer and consumer together. As a CSA member, you are "buying a share" of the farm by making an advance payment. Your advance payment is a commitment to local flowers and is a trust in us to make it happen. This supports the seasonal start-up costs to get it all growing (seeds, bulbs, tubers, soil, heat, planting materials, labor…). For example, we order tulip bulbs in early spring, they are delivered in early fall and we don’t have those flowers blooming until the following January through May.

CSAs are one pathway we pursue to build community access to local flowers, and to create a reciprocal relationship with our community and our local ecosystem.

Thank you for collaborating with us on the flower journey, from seed to bloom.

CSA subscriptions offered:

1) Winter Tulips, 2) Early Spring Tulips, 3) Spring to Summer Bridge, 4) Full on Summer, and 5) Almost Fall

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION, PLEASE READ:

  • Once you have paid, you have secured a spot in one of our CSA subscription shares.

  • The Hulls Cove pick-up location: 102 State Highway 3 (Click here for Google Maps directions), Bar Harbor, ME

Winter/Early Spring/Late Fall pick up: The entryway to our house. We have a lower entryway and an upper. Flowers are in the lower entryway.

Summer/warm weather pick up: Our flower hut is located at the head of the driveway, across the street from The Church of Our Father in Hulls Cove.

  • Other spots: 86 This!, Ellsworth, 125 Main Street or the Northeast Harbor Library.

  • You will receive an email about one week prior to the start of the CSA giving you the actual start date. Given the nature of growing and unpredictable weather, our start dates can vary.

  • Our CSA is set up so that you pick up on the same day each week within the time frame given. This will help you remember to pick up each week (phone calendar reminders are my favorite!), and it will help us have your order ready. Given the busyness of the season, and to keep communication manageable and transparent, we are unable to offer alternative pick-up times. It is your responsibility to pick up your flowers each week. There are no refunds, either partial or full, for missed appointments and/or cancellations. If you are going away or unable to make it, we ask that you have a friend, neighbor, or family member pick up your share. We create our seedling and growing calendar in advance to meet the needs of these shares.

  • Each share includes a beautiful fresh-cut flower bouquet wrapped in a recyclable paper sleeve or placed in our signature mason jar.

  • By joining this CSA, you agree and understand that flowers are a perishable item. While some flowers have a 7-10 vase life like tulips, lilies, snapdragons, and lisianthus, others such as sweet peas and dahlias typically have a vase life of 3-5 days depending on variety, room temp, water quality, etc... We harvest in peak conditions so that you will enjoy the longest vase life possible out of your flowers. We are not responsible for poor flower care once the flowers leave the property.

  • Key factors for longer vase-life include: be sure to get your flowers in water ASAP, use clean vases, and provide fresh, clean water to prevent them from drying out or dirty water inhibiting the flower. Dahlias and tulips for example are heavy drinkers. Snip the end of the stems to aid in the uptake of water.

  • Participating in the CSA share ensures you or your gift recipient will receive fresh local cut flowers. If it seems difficult to meet the terms or not your cup of tea (um, I mean flowers), you can find our flowers at retail locations around MDI, Ellsworth, and Blue Hill.

  • Please be sure to add jodi@jodisargent.com to your email contacts to ensure that our messages don't go to your Spam folder. We will mostly contact you through email, but please be sure to provide your phone number in case we need to get in touch with you on the day of pickup.

  • Still have questions - call /text or email Jodi. If it is not time-sensitive and it is the weekend, please email instead of calling/texting. Thank you for understanding.
